A Successful Evening in Jenaz!
We had a fantastic turnout for the benefit dinner at the Landhaus Restaurant in Jenaz on Sunday, December 4th.   Fifty-one people came for dinner and many others for the wonderful bazaar and entertainment....(click below to read more)

The evening was kicked off by three beautiful dancers from Ursula Luginbühl’s Ballet School: Evelyn Hess, Selina Theiler and Maria Michel.
Their charming and lively dance routine was followed by the Calanda Oil Steel Band which played two sets of Caribbean music to set the mood for our Creole / Haitian meal.
The audience wouldn’t let them leave until they played an encore! The entertainment was all volunteer…thank you.
Thanks also to Lolita Bärtsch who volunteered to manage the donations at the bazaar table. Lolita sold almost all the Haitian artwork and much more! Thanks so much to all those who brought items to sell. We raised 665 Swiss Francs (about the same in dollars)!
At 6pm Tanya gave a presentation about the Haiti project using the DVD made of her recent visit to Haiti. The DVD was created by Markus Müller of Dynamic Video Production and told the story of the arrival of the second container full of instruments in Gonaives and the formation of the new music school there.  (The DVD should be available soon to watch in full, 22 minutes, at this website created by David Knecht of PebWeb.)
The Haitian meal that followed was delicious. Madlene Rominger amazed the crowd once again with her culinary abilities. The Romingers received a hundred-year old music horn and a trumpet as thanks for organizing the event. In addition to paying for the Apéro, 490 Francs were donated from the price of the dinners to the Haiti music project. Thanks Madlene and Andy!
At the end of the evening Tanya also thanked the main music sponsors from the area with small gifts from Haiti. Urs Länzlinger from Musik Länzlinger could not attend, but Roland Jost from Music Rent, Peter Ambass, our helpful violin-player, and Christopher Lüthi from Lüthi Geigenbau in Sevelen received personal thanks for their time and financial support of the project.
Two piggy-banks were labeled with “donations for the teachers” (collected 435 Francs) and “donations for the building” (322 Francs), bringing the total donations from the evening to 1,912 Swiss Francs. (Elisabeth Schmid verified the donation amounts.) The following day, another 1200 Francs were donated from three generous friends, bringing the grand total to 3112 Francs.
We will wait for the final totals from the Winterthur benefit, then give an update as to how the money will be used.
